D | Wie war der Konsum von pflanzlichen Arzneimitteln während der Covid-19 Pandemie in Deutschland und wie hat er sich im Vergleich zu vor der Pandemie verändert? Diesen spannenden Fragen sind wir nachgegangen. Dazu haben wir eine Studie zum Verbraucherverhalten bezüglich der Nutzung von pflanzlichen Arzneimitteln aus dem Jahr 2022 ausgewertet und mit einer Studie aus dem Jahr 2018 verglichen. Das Ergebnis hat Miriam Wolf auf dem 71st International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA 2023) in Dublin vorgestellt. Neben aktueller Forschung zu Herstellung, Verwendung und therapeutischem Potential verschiedenster Pflanzenextrakte und ihrer Produkte für Mensch oder Tier lag ein weiterer Fokus der Konferenz in diesem Jahr auf dem Thema „Unlocking Nature’s Pharmacy for a Sustainable Future“. Die Konferenz mit einem Young Researchers‘/Early Career Researcher Workshop im Pre-Symposium, fand vom 02. Juli bis 05. Juli in der Business School des Trinity College Dublins statt. Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler aus Forschung und Entwicklung aus über 50 Ländern sind zusammengekommen, um ihr Wissen bei spannenden Vorträgen und Diskussionen auszutauschen. Neben dem fachlichen Programm gab es in den Pausen und bei Abendveranstaltungen mit irischem Kulturprogramm gute Gelegenheiten, Land und Menschen besser kennenzulernen und sich in entspannter Atmosphäre weiter zu vernetzen.
EN | What was the consumption of herbal medicines like during the Covid 19 pandemic in Germany and how did it change compared to before the pandemic? We investigated these exciting questions. To do this, we evaluated a study on consumer behaviour regarding the use of herbal medicines from 2022 and compared it with a study from 2018. Miriam Wolf presented the results at the 71st International Congress and Annual Meeting of the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA 2023) in Dublin. In addition to current research on the production, use and therapeutic potential of a wide variety of plant extracts and their products for humans or animals, another focus of this year’s conference was on the theme of „Unlocking Nature’s Pharmacy for a Sustainable Future“. The conference, which included a Young Researchers’/Early Career Researcher Workshop in the Pre-Symposium, took place from 02 July to 05 July in the Business School of Trinity College Dublin. Scientists from research and development from more than 50 countries came together to exchange their knowledge during exciting lectures and discussions. In addition to the professional programme, there were good opportunities to get to know the country and its people better and to continue networking in a relaxed atmosphere during the breaks and at evening events with an Irish cultural programme.
